Hello!

My name is Courtney and I create beautiful tree ring prints taken from fallen down trees. All my prints are handmade meaning every print is as unique as the tree they came from. I am committed to preserving the intricate stories of these trees, sharing these with all of you.

My work explores the vulnerability of certain species of animals that are close to extinction due to human practices. Using the rings of trees as a visible lifeline to portray a sense of urgency when it comes to the wellbeing of these animals.

I studied at Ara Institute of Canterbury, where I completed a Bachelor of Design in Applied Visual Arts. It was in my last year of study that I developed this technique and have not been able to stop. Since finishing my studies, I have moved to Wellington to pursue my dream of being an artist. Here, I work out of my home studio, letting my creativity flow throughout the house.

Other than being an environmental advocate, I also kind of love dinosaurs. In my last year of high school, I was known as the dinosaur girl because I completed a painting portfolio focused on a girl's relationship with dinosaurs. It was a lot of fun so of course I had to bring it into this new style of mine. BUT did you know dinosaur bones actually contain rings, similar to tree rings, where you can then count how old that dinosaur was! So, there is a correlation there. Then again, even if there wasn't, I would still draw dinosaurs.

I hope you enjoy my art as much as I do!
